The upcoming Broadway production of Eric Bogosian's Talk Radio starring Liev Schreiber has delayed its previews by one week and opening night by two weeks to accommodate changes in its set, according to a production spokesperson. The production will now begin previews on February 15 and open on March 11 at the Longacre Theatre, directed by Robert Falls. Previews had previously been scheduled to begin on February 9, with an opening night of February 25.
According to the spokesperson, revisions to the radio studio set in Talk Radio designed by Mark Wendland will cause a delay in performances, although an extra holiday performance on Sunday, February 18, at 7:00 PM has been added. The original schedule had allowed for only three weeks of rehearsal before the first Broadway performance of Talk Radio. Schreiber recently returned to New York from Los Angeles, where he filmed several episodes of CSl as a guest star while series regular William Peterson spent the month of December starring in Conor McPherson's Dublin Carol at Trinity Rep in Providence, R.I.
Talk Radio centers around one evening in the life of controversial and malicious radio host Barry Champlain Schreiber. It debuted at the Public Theater in 1987 in a production starring Bogosian, who later adapted the play and starred in a 1988 film version directed by Oliver Stone. The cast for the Broadway production also includes Peter Hermann, Stephanie March, Erik Jensen, Sebastian Stan, Michael Lawrence, Christine Pedi, Barbara Rosenblat, Adam Sietz, Marc Thompson and Cornell Womack.
